Support for Community Organizations
Community Organizations and Non-Profits provide invaluable services and recreational opportunities to residents and visitors in the Township of Brock. This page outlines the various supports available for these groups from the municipality.
How can we request support from the municipality?
The municipal Support for Community Organizations Policy provides the requirements, procedures and available supports for community organizations and non-profits in our community. Please review the policy and follow the steps outlined in the document when requesting support. Your written request must be submitted to clerks@brock.ca and accompanied by the Special Event Application Form.
What supports are available ?
The Support for Community Organizations Policy indicates three area of support.

- Financial Support
All requests for support are subject to the Support for Community Organizations Policy.
Physical Support |
Facility Rentals Municipal facilities are available for bookings through the Recreation Department. Equipment Lending Community Organizations and Non-Profits may request use of municipal equipment for their events such as garbage receptacles, pylons, picnic tables etc. |
Promotional Support |
Many of the Township's communication channels are available for use by Community Organizations and Non-Profits to share information about their activities and upcoming events.
The Communications Department sends out a quarterly email to Community Organizations with important information and key dates. Please email communications@brock.ca if you wish to be added to this email or have any questions about promotional support from the Township. |

Non Profit Sector Advisory Committee
The Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee (NPSAC) consists of members of the public and Council who are responsible for providing advice and recommendations to Council about the status of non-profit organizations in the community. National Non-Profit Day
August 17, 2024 was proclaimed National Non-Profit Day and a flag raising was held as a way to recognize and honour the work by non-profits in our community.
Hosting an Event?
The numerous and wonderful events hosted by Community Organizations and Non-Profit Groups attract visitors and engage residents throughout the year. Below are some considerations for groups when planning an event. Please use the Special Event Application Form to assist in your event planning. This checklist includes all of the information listed below in one document. By completing and submitting the form to the municipality, staff can review all aspects of your event and let you know if any additional information is required.

Are you planning on using a municipal facility or park? Make sure to book your event well in advance! |
Is your event accessible to all? |
Please reference the Accessible Event Checklist when preparing to make sure your event can be accessed and enjoyed by everyone! |
Will there be a tent or stage? |
If a tent or stage is being set up for any portion of your event, you may require a building permit. Please contact building@brock.ca for more details. |
Will there be fireworks? |
Make sure to apply for the appropriate Fireworks Display Licence. |
Will there be food trucks? |
Providers may be required to have a refreshment vehicle licence from the Township of Brock or a valid license from another municipality. |
Will there be alcohol at your event? |
If yes, a Special Occasion Permit must be obtained from the AGCO. |
Will a BBQ be used at your event? |
If yes, approval from the Fire Department is required. Please contact fire@brock.ca |
Will there be amplified music or noise? |
Events must follow the Municipal Noise By-law. If you are aware that your event will not abide by the by-law, you may apply for an exemption by following the criteria in Section 5 of the below. Typical hours noise is prohibited 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Noise outside of permitted hours is subject to a separate fee and Council approval. |
Will there be inflatables or amusement rides? |
If yes, additional information for each inflatable or ride must be collected by the municipality. TSSA approval may be required for some inflatables. Please contact clerks@brock.ca for more information. |
Do you require a road closure? |
If your event requires a road closure for municipal roads, a Municipal Road Occupancy Permit must be obtained. Regional Road Closures can be applied for online. |
Do you have a Site Plan? |
A detailed Site Plan assists with the planning of your event and must be supplied to the township when requesting support. A formal survey is not required, a google map image or hand drawing is acceptable. It should include all relevant information such as:

Municipal Representation |
Would you like Council to be in attendnance at your event? In your request, clearly indicate the date(s) when you wish Council to be present and if you have any tasks for them (i.e. ribbon cutting, entering a float in the parade, giving a speech). |
Insurance
The municipality requires proof of insurance from any group booking a municipality facility or hosting an event on municipality property. Having the proper insurance protects the event organizer, attendees and municipality. You may provide proof of insurance or purchase insurance from the municipality (indoor events only).
Lottery Licencing
If your organization collects money in exchange for a chance to win a prize in a games of chance you are required by the AGCO to apply for a lottery licence from the municipality. Examples of lottery licences are: 50/50 draws, cash calendars, elimination draws etc.
