Official Plan
The Township of Brock Official Plan details policies for the growth and development of our urban areas (Beaverton, Cannington and Sunderland), hamlets (Gamebridge, Manilla, Port Bolster, Sonya and Wilfrid), and Shoreline Residential areas. Council adopted the Official Plan on June 26, 2006, and the Region of Durham approved with some changes and deferrals on May 9, 2007.
Amending the Official Plan
Please submit a completed Official Plan Amendment Application to the Planning Department to apply. Make sure to review our Official Plan Amendment Application Guide, which details our process and the required agency circulation.
Region of Durham Official Plan
The Township of Brock adheres to the planning policies in the Region of Durham Official Plan, which sets the long-term vision on accommodating and managing growth in the Region.
The Regional Plan contains policies on:
- aggregate resource extraction
- transportation network
- environment
- housing
- economic development
- finance
- cultural, health and community facilities
Rural Areas
The development policies for the Township of Brock's rural areas are set in the Regional Official Plan. Rural areas are divided into land use designations including:
- Prime Agricultural Areas
- Greenlands System including waterfronts and major open space
- Rural Settlements (hamlets)
