Applying for a Licence
On an annual basis, please send a completed Application for an Automobile Wrecking Yard to the Clerk's Department. Make sure to include a site plan of the property and a non-refundable deposit of $50.
Wrecking Yard Licence Fee 2024 - $303.00
After February 1st - $361.50
Requirements
The Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officer will inspect the location to ensure that it complies with the Wrecking Yard By-Law. If the yard meets all requirements, we will issue the license after receiving the required fee.
The yard must:
- be on land where zoning allows a wrecking yard
- be 150 m from a neighbouring residence
- only allow access when an attendant is on duty
- not permit any open burning
You must dispose of fluids from derelict vehicles in an environmentally-safe manner as per the Environmental Protection Act (if you are not safely storing them for resale).
