The Region of Durham has provided an updated to Council of the future plans of the Future Vallentyne Bypass. The Region is currently in the design phase of the project. This update also provided a brief update on RR13 Construction and ways in which the Region is using the excess fill for road side improvement. These may include road side slope embankment flattening to improve safety, filling of road adjacent areas to improve grading and safety, reusing granular, reusing topsoil for landscape berms and doing some farm grading improvements to improve farming.

Fire Chief Rick Harrison presented an Q2, 2024 update report to Council on the Brock Fire Department responses.

The Ethel Park Subdivision Emergency Plan was endorsed by Council. Fire Chief Harrison noted that the Ethel Park Subdivision Emergency Plan is a new appendix to the overall Township Emergency Plan, and during Rail Safety Week (Sept 23-29), information pertaining to rail safety and the Ethel Park Subdivision plan shall be distributed to the residence within Ethel Park.

The Support for Community Organization Policy was presented to Council and adopted. The Policy aims to create a thorough and consistent form to ensure equal opportunity is provided in supporting community and non-profit groups. A new Special Event Application Form is required to be completed by Community Organizations and Non-Profit Groups to assist with their event planning and to streamline requests coming to the municipality.

King Street Park Update was presented to Council and staff are now directed to go back to tender with the re-scoped project.

The Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival will be held on April 5-6, 2025

Regional Councillor Mike Jubb gave an updated on the Beaver River Bridge. Road is still being completed, waiting on approvals from LSRCA and hydro one but are being expedited. Project timeline for the temporary bridge is late October.
