September 23, 2024 Committee of the Whole and Council Meeting Highlights
The Regional Municipality of Durham presented the Ontario Northlander Case to Council. The Northlander is a train that would travel between Toronto – Union Station and North Bay. A proposed Beaverton train station is being evaluated. More information to come when available.

- Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities presented the 2024 Capital Project Update to Council. This report covers project that have been completed, initiated and are still out standing.
- The Backyard Hens report was received by Council , with the By-law to be adopted October 21st. Chickens are currently only permitted on properties that are zoned Rural, Rural Buffer or Environmental Protection. The Backyard Hens would permit the keeping of a maximum of 4 hens on properties that are zoned Rural Residential and Hamlet Residential. Backyard Hens are NOT permitted in urban zoned areas.
- Township of Brock Council formally requests the Government of Ontario to initiate the transfer of responsibilities in the interest of creating a more coherent and standardized regulatory framework for ride-sharing services across the province
- The Cannington Lions will operate a food booth at the Rick Macleish Memorial Community Centre for the 2024/20285 season.
