Scugog and Brock waste management facilities remain closed

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents that due to an ongoing power outage the following service disruptions have occurred:
- The Durham Waste Management Facility in Scugog remains closed until further notice due to a power outage. The site will reopen once power is restored.
- The Durham Waste Management Facility in Brock remains closed until further notice due to a power outage. The site will reopen once power is restored.
Temporary bins have been set up for household waste as needed related to the recent storm for Township of Brock residents only at the following locations:
- Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre, 176 Main Street, Beaverton
- Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre, 91 Elliot Street, Cannington
- Sunderland Memorial Arena, 20 Park Street, Sunderland

Residents are asked to please place any food waste resulting from the power outage in your green bin for regular curbside collection. Overflow material will be accepted. Place overflow materials in a clear bag or cardboard box.
Residents who have fallen trees on their property from this weekend’s storm can prepare their brush for the seasonal leaf and yard waste collection.
Bi-weekly seasonal leaf and yard waste collection starts this week (March 31) in the Town of Ajax and Municipality of Clarington, and the week of April 7 for City of Pickering, Township of Brock, Township of Uxbridge and Township of Scugog.
Brush must be securely tied in bundles up to one metre (three feet) long and 76 centimetres (30 inches) wide. No branch should be more than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameters.

Note: Storm related yard waste will also be accepted temporarily at the Durham Waste Management Facility in Oshawa. Waste Management Facilities in Scugog and Brock will also be accepting yard waste temporarily once they reopen. Standard fees will be waived for dedicated loads of yard waste.
