Regional Road 13, Sunderland, Culvert Installation No Through Access Phase 1B
The Regional Municipality of Durham has begun the road reconstruction of Regional Road 13 from 730 metres east of Lakeridge Road (Regional Road 23) to 810 metres west of Sideroad 17. The work includes asphalt removal, grading, drainage, granular base and subbase, curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt, culvert replacement, two precast box culverts, sod and seed, and new plantings.
Construction Schedule
The Region’s contractor, Dufferin Construction Company, mobilized the week of July 29, 2024. Work is anticipated to be completed to base asphalt by December 2024 with surface asphalt by the end of May 2025. Unfavorable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Road Closure
Regional Road 13 will be closed two kilometres east of Lake Ridge Road from October 29 to November 11 for the installation of a structural box culvert (east). There will be no through traffic for emergency vehicles and local residents. Driveway access will be maintained whenever possible, and residents will be notified if vehicles need to be temporarily relocated.
Residents at address S425 and lower should access Regional Road 13 via Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), while residents at S470 and higher should use Regional Road 13 west of Sideroad 17. Please exercise additional caution and follow all posted detours.
Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
