October 21, 2024 Committee of the Whole Meeting Council Highlights
Director of Public Works provided an update on the 2024 Public Works Capital Projects.
- The annual Camp Summary Report was presented to Council, highlighting another successful season. For 2025, staff plan to run March Break Camp and 8 week Summer Camps in Beaverton and Cannington only for 2025
- Outdoor Movies will continue in 2025 and staff plan to add some fall and winter events for families.
- The Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund Grand application for upgrades to the Beaverton Arena was amended to include replacement of boards, backers and glass, chiller, condenser, dehumidifier, infrared controller unit, and flooring and lighting upstairs. The funding for the Township’s portion of this project be taken from the Beaverton Arena Reserve.
- Fire Chief Rick Harrison reported to Council on Fire Station Repairs for the Beaverton Fire Hall and Council has approved the expenditure for the stair repair to be funded from the pubic facilities reserve. Council is looking for an updated quote from the Fire Chief on the other repair items in the report.
- Director of Development Services provided a report on Street Names for the Logan Homes Subdivision (S-B-2017-01) to Council. The following names have been approved by Council;
- Dobson Drive
- Speedie Lane
and that Council delegate the local ward Councillor and Director of Development services to select a 3rd name in the replacement of Miller Drive.
- 2025 Budget Meeting dates are now available.
