Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure on Regional Road 13 in the Township of Brock.
Where: Regional Road 13 from 732 metres east of Lakeridge Road to 810 metres west of Sideroad 17, in Brock.
When: Work begins August 12, 2024. Anticipated completion of this phase of construction is December 2024 and surface asphalt by the end of May 2025. Unfavorable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Why: To safely complete road reconstruction. The work includes asphalt removal, grading, drainage, granular base and subbase, curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt, culvert replacement, two precast box culverts, sod and seed, and new plantings.
Note: Traffic will be detoured via Lakeridge Road (Regional Road 23), Regional Road 10 and Highway 7/12.
Local traffic and emergency access will be maintained. Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the workers. Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents should vehicles need to be moved out of their driveways.
Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
