March 31, Update - Township of Brock Emergency Declaration

The Township of Brock has declared a State of Emergency due to the severe and escalating impacts of the ongoing ice storm affecting the region. The Township Municipal Administration Building has no landline telephone service and Bell cell connection is very limited. Residents that do have power or the ability to email concerns can do so via publicworks@brock.ca and staff will get to those once communication services are re-established.
The following services are available to residents impacted by storm.
Information, Charging and Warming Centers
Residents can access the following facilities to charge devises and warm up.
- Municipal Administrative Building located at 1, Cameron St E. Cannington, Open 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m
- Sunderland Memorial Arena located at 20 Park St. Sunderland, Open 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m
- Sunderland Fire Station located at 217 River St., Sunderland, Open 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m
- Nourish and Develop Foundation Hub, located at 16 York Street. Cannington, Open 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m
Showering Facilities
Residents have access to the showering facilities at the following locations. Please bring your own towels and soap.
- Sunderland Fire Station located at 217 River St., Sunderland Open 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Georgina Leisure Pool located at 5279 Black River Road, Sutton. Call for hours 905-722-1429
- Uxbridge Pool located at 1 Parkside Drive, Uxbridge. Call for hours 905-85-7831
Drinking water
Potable drinking water is available at the following locations. Bring your own containers
- Rick MacLeish Memorial Arena 91 Elliot St. Cannington, Open 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m
- Beaverton Fire Station Front East Bay Door located at 360 Bay Street, Beaverton, Open 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m
Tree debris
Urban area residents can bring road debris to the curb/ roadway but must follow the following criteria. Pick up to be determined.
- Thicker end of branch towards the curb
- Branches cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter
- Branches can be no longer than 6 feet in length
Rural residents may burn tree debris with no requirement to obtain a burn permit between April 1st to April 30th, however rural residents must call Sunderland Fire Station to initiate a burn event 1-855-955-1101.
Garbage and Waste
Large waste bins will be available later this week for residents to dispose of kitchen and household waste as needed. There will be NO bag limit April 1-4, 2025 for Waste collection on your regular scheduled pick ups.
