Heat Warning Issued for Durham Region
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Durham Region commencing June 17, 2024. Dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected through most of the week.
This is being shared with community partners so that heat response plans can be activated, and the public can take precautions. Infants, children, older adults, people who are pregnant, and people with pre-existing medical conditions are more at risk for heat-related illnesses.
A heat warning occurs when the forecast conditions include a daytime high of at least 31°C and overnight temperatures above 20°C or greater, or Humidex values of at least 40, for two days.
