The Township of Brock Council Discussed the follow:
March 4, 2024
- The Township of Brock has approved their 2024 Operating And Capital Budget. The net levy increase for 2024 is 3.97% which equates to an increase on the Township of Brock portion of the tax bill of approximately $19.15 per year, per each $100,000 of residential assessment.
The total levy requirement for 2024 is $10,713,733 and the breakdown of how this levy is being spent is as follows:
In addition, the 2024 budget also includes Capital Projects totalling $13,845,000
Some highlights from the 2024 Capital Budget include:
Double Surface Treatment on Roads $550,000
Road Rehabilitation Projects $538,000
Gravel Placement $375,000
Culvert –Concession 3, East of Thorah Sideroad $220,000
Bridge – Concession 1, East of Hwy 12 $200,000
Sunderland Arena Renovation $9,200,000
Beaverton Track $205,000
Electric Zamboni $140,000
Picnic Shelter at MacLeod Park $100,000
Mini Rescue Truck $250,000

- Council endorsed a Notice of Motion that supports the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee’s position in not supporting applications for Battery Energy Storage Solutions on Prime Agricultural Land, within the Greenbelt, most specifically on class 1-4 farmland, for the remainder of the term of Council 2022-2026. Others will be considered for endorsement on a case by case basis.

- The Waterfont Area and Open space Plan Final Report was endorsed by Council. The Plan provides a long-term vision for Beaverton's waterfront and open space lands that connect downtown Beaverton to the Harbour.For more information, check out letstalkbrock.ca/waterfront-plan
- New Board Members Appointments have been made to the Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee, Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee and Brock Township Public Library Board. The Township is still accepting applications for the Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee and Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee.
