Co-existing with Wildlife
As winter draws to a close and as more natural habitats like forests and meadows turn into buildings and roadways, wild animals are forced into smaller and more crowded spaces—including our own backyards. While we may see the presence of these animals as a nuisance, they are simply trying to survive. Brock Animal Services has provided links and information about how to co-exist with Wildlife, avoiding conflicts and how to keep residents and pets safe and what to do should they encounter a wild animal that may be sick or injured.
Remember, never touch or interact with, or allow pets or children to interact with, wildlife of any kind. Do NOT attempt to trap or relocate wildlife without first contacting a wildlife rehabilitation centre for advice. Keep your pets safe by ensuring they are fully up to date with vaccinations.
Brock Animal Services also reminds all pet owners that all dog’s and cat’s must be leashed and supervised when off their own property. Abiding by the bylaw will help to ensure the safety of pets and minimize conflict with animals wild by nature.
