Beaver River Bridge Replacement Update August 2, 2024

The Region of Durham is currently designing temporary and permanent replacements of the Beaver River Bridge, located on Regional Road 15 east of Highway 12, in the Township of Brock. The existing bridge will be replaced with a new structure and is scheduled to commence construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027. In the interim, a temporary bridge is tentatively scheduled to be opened to traffic in the fall of 2024.

Both the temporary and permanent bridges are in the design stage.

The Region's contractor, Elirpa Construction and Materials Ltd., mobilized to the site on July 8. Installation of the traffic protection, erosion and sediment control measures, access to the river, and river protection system (floating interlocking barges) has been completed. Bridge removal has commenced the week of July 29.

All the appropriate approvals for the bridge removal are in place including from: Transport Canada Navigation Protection; Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO); Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA); and, Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO). The Region appreciates the support of all our partners for their timely approvals to complete this important project for the community.
