Beaver River Bridge Replacement Update August 16, 2024
The Region of Durham is currently designing temporary and permanent replacements of the Beaver River Bridge, located on Regional Road 15 east of Highway 12, in the Township of Brock. The existing bridge will be replaced with a new structure and is scheduled to commence construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027. In the interim, a temporary bridge is tentatively scheduled to be opened to traffic in the fall of 2024.
Both the temporary and permanent bridges are in the design stage.
The Region's contractor, Elirpa Construction and Materials Ltd., mobilized to the site on July 8th. The existing bridge has been removed and the temporary bridge approach embankment widening has been on-going. Hydro relocations to allow for the remaining existing bridge foundations to be removed and the temporary bridge to be constructed will be occurring over the next two weeks. The fabrication of the temporary bridge continues.
Approvals for the temporary bridge are being obtained from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO). The Region appreciates the support of our partners for their timely approvals to complete this important project for the community.
Funding for this project is being provided by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario.
