Changes to blue box collection and waste management facility hours due to Canada Day

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents of changes to scheduled curbside blue box collection, as well as Regional Waste Management Facilities hours, in observance of the Canada Day holiday.
When: Monday, July 3 to Saturday, July 8
Where: Residents of the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the next day. This means that blue box collection scheduled for Monday, July 3 will be moved to Tuesday, July 4....

Region of Durham wins two OPWA Project of the Year awards

The Region of Durham’s innovative Newtonville Road (Regional Road 18) Rehabilitation Project was recently awarded the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) 2022 Project of the Year Award in the Transportation, less than $2 million category.

Durham Region announces the winners of the Waste App Contest

Whitby, Ontario – From May 1 to 31, more than 9,500 residents entered the Durham Region Waste App Contest for a chance to win a $100 grocery store gift card of their choosing. The contest encouraged residents to enter by downloading either the Durham Region Waste app or the Whitby Waste Buddy app, which resulted in more than 3,000 new app downloads.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is reminding residents to keep the health and safety of waste collection workers in mind when they set out their waste for curbside collection.
By following a few simple steps, residents can help prevent injury for waste collection workers when collecting medical sharps, broken glass or broken porcelain.
