Reminder that nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Township of Brock Accessibility Award. This award is presented once a year to a business or organization in the Township that has shown a concerted effort to improve accessibility. Spring Reminders from the Fire Department

Spring has arrived! The Brock Township Fire Department would like to remind residents of the Burn By-law regulations.
  1. Burning is NOT permitted in the urban areas of Beaverton Cannington or Sunderland, the hamlets of Gamebridge, Port Bolster, Wilfrid, Manilla or Property Zoned Rural Residential (RR) or front on the Pines Lane.
  2. Residents living in an area where burning is permitted, make sure you know, understand and adhere to all Burn By-Law Regulations.

Brock Tourism BR+E 2017

The Township of Brock Economic Development Advisory Committee (BEDAC) in conjunction with the Region of Durham Planning & Economic Development Department is hosting a tourism focused Business Retention and Expansions (BR+E) project. The project is being undertaken with the support of BEDAC, the Brock Board of Trade (BBOT), Durham Tourism, the Durham Workforce Authority and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). A BR+E project is a structured action-oriented and community-based approach to business and economic development that emphasizes in=person business visits in a way to identify the needs of existing local business. This project will aim to:
  • continue to support existing tourism-related business and determine other ways that these existing businesses can be support more effectively;
  • determine how to capitalize on Brock's best tourism assets;
  • grow the tourism industry in Brock by attracting new business and visitors; and create a sustainable tourism sector in Brock.

Public Works Department NewsSummer Camp

Summer Day Camp Registration – Camp Registration is now available online!
  • Early Bird Deadline – Savings of $10 per child per session if registered by May 31, 2017.
  • Regular Rate – As of June 1, 2017 Day Camp will increase in prices to its regular rate.
Spring Fitness Schedule  – Lots of fitness classes available to help you stay active! Details, costs and information on the classes are available at
Roller Disco Kick Off  – Roller Disco is back this year and will kick off Friday May 5th at the Sunderland Memorial Arena. Admission is only $3.00 and will continue throughout the season on a rotating schedule.
Trail Run & Ride 
The Beaver River Trail Run & Ride is an annual event for Brock Township and will be held on May 27 & 28, 2017. The Saturday will feature the run with categories for every level and ability, and the Sunday will feature the ride offering something for every level and ability. The Beaver River Trail Run and Ride will begin at the Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre and travel south towards Sunderland. For more information
Wellness Expo – The Township of Brock is looking for vendors interested in participating in a Wellness Expo during the month of June at one of our local arenas. Red Welcome Wagon Visits

The Township of Brock Council and Brock Economic Development Advisory Committee (BEDAC) continue to welcome new business owners to Brock through the Red Welcome Wagon Program. On Thursday March 23, 2017

Residents and non-residents who start a business or are new business owners in Brock or business owners who expand an existing business into Brock are eligible to receive a Red Welcome Wagon visit.  Durham Region Waste Events

April 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre 
  • Free Compost – residents may fill up to 4 blue boxes with compost. Green bins, blue boxes and backyard composters will be available for sale (Cash only). Damaged Blue Boxes and Green bins may also be exchanged for new ones, free of charge.
  • Recycle Your Electronic Waste – Keep electrnics out of the waste stream. Bring your end of life electronics such as MP3 Players, Cameras, Telephones, TVs, Radios and DVD Players, for free recycling.
  • Drop off your Household Hazardous Waste Collection – Antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid, motor oil, herbicides, insecticides and propane tanks. You can also pick up a FREE gallon of recycled paint when you drop off HHW (limit one per vehicle) courtesy of Photech Environmental.

Save the Date! Official Celebration of the Beaver Trail Extension Rehabilitation

On May 27th, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. the Township of Brock will be hosting the official celebration of the Rehabilitation of the Beaver River Trail  at MacLeod Park in Cannington. The Township of was honoured to be a recipient of Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program funds for the Rehabilitation of trail. Please RSVP online in advance of the celebration.
