Energy Consumption and CDM Plan

In 2009, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure enacted the Green Energy Act to help public agencies including municipalities, hospitals and schools manage and reduce their energy consumption. As part of this Act, Regulation 397/11 requires certain public agencies – municipalities, municipal service boards, school boards, universities, colleges and hospitals – to report on their annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions beginning in 2013, starting with reporting amounts from 2011.

Regulation 397/11 also requires the development and implementation of an Energy Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Plan to start in 2014, to be reviewed and updated at a minimum of every 5 years. The CDM Plan must be approved by Council resolution, posted to the Township of Brock website, and submitted to the Ministry of Energy by July 1st, 2014.
