DR – Notice of Study Commencement – Additional Sanitary Sewage Capacity to Service Sunderland and Cannington
The Regional Municipality of Durham is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study to plan for additional sanitary sewage capacity to service the communities of Sunderland and Cannington, in the Township of Brock. Additional capacity is required to support growth forecasts, up to the ultimate build-out within the existing urban boundary for each community.
The study will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the ‘Schedule C’ projects as outlined in the Municipal Class EA process as set out by the Municipal Engineers Association. The study will identify and evaluate alternative servicing approaches for increasing pumping, treatment and conveyance capacity, for each community. The preferred servicing approaches will be selected to minimize technical, community, natural environmental and economic impacts.
Public consultation is an integral component of this project. Public meetings will be held to present project information, preliminary results of the decision-making process, and to provide opportunity for feedback to the project team. Project notices will be issued in local papers, on the project website and to those who have expressed an interest in this study in advance to provide detailed information of the project.
