Beaver River Bridge Replacement Update August 2, 2024

The Region of Durham is currently designing temporary and permanent replacements of the Beaver River Bridge, located on Regional Road 15 east of Highway 12, in the Township of Brock. The existing bridge will be replaced with a new structure and is scheduled to commence construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027. In the interim, a temporary bridge is tentatively scheduled to be opened to traffic in the fall of 2024.
Both the temporary and permanent bridges are in the design stage.

Public Information Centre on Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station plan for the Beaverton Employment Area

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is holding a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) about the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to plan for the sanitary sewage servicing needs of the Beaverton Employment Area in the Township of Brock.

New Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool launches in Durham Region

Whitby, Ontario – Today, the powerful new Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool (vHEAT) is launching in Durham Region as part of the Durham Greener Homes Program. Using artificial intelligence (AI), vHEAT produces a digital energy score to help users understand how much energy their home consumes compared to homes of similar size, age, and type. The tool also provides each homeowner with a customized “retrofit road map” showing how they can reduce energy consumption, resulting in cost-savings.

Grow your Green Bin! New materials are now accepted

Diapers, menstrual products, incontinence products, pet waste and pet litter can now be disposed of in the Green Bin for weekly curbside collection.
The revised program is designed to maximize waste diversion, minimize the waste being processed at the Durham York Energy Centre, increase convenience, and achieve compliance with Ontario’s Food and Organic Waste Policy Statement.
