Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents to place their used household batteries out for recycling on their blue box collection day, during the week of April 22.
When: Spring battery collection occurs from April 22 to 26 on blue box collection days.

Electric vehicle charging infrastructure expands across the region

Whitby, Ontario – Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are becoming more commonplace throughout Durham Region. Today’s announcement of $2.4 million in federal funding from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) will enable the installation of 259 new EV charging stations across Durham Region. Free tax filing help is available to residents living with low income

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents who earn a low income, or who have no income, can get help with filing their taxes for free. Through tax filing, eligible residents can access benefits and credits that could put money in their pockets and help cover basic needs. There are more than 40 benefits and credits in Ontario; many can only be accessed through tax filing.

Contractors have completed works for this winter season. Simcoe St is now open between the Holy Family Catholic School and Madill St.
January 20, 2024 Update
Contractors have returned to the site to complete the mainline watermain on Simcoe Street from Union St. to Madill St Simcoe Street will remain closed until work has been completed.
